Local roots. National reach

We are committed to being an active participant in our region

We see ourselves as more than just a law firm in the local area. We’re an integral part of the vibrant tapestry that is the Black Country and wider West Midlands community.

We believe that a strong community is built on strong relationships. Our commitment to our region goes beyond legal expertise; it extends to forging strong, long-term relationships, giving back, and nurturing the potential within our community.

Rooted in the Black Country

Since our doors opened in 1875, we have been aware of the privilege of being a part of the rich and diverse Black Country community. We don’t believe we are merely a business situated within the boundaries of the Black Country but a product of its heritage, culture, and relentless spirit that defines this region and its people.

Our connection with our community is more than a geographical coincidence – it's the foundation upon which we've built our firm and our values which still stand firm today.

Supporting through volunteering and fundraising

Our unwavering support exemplifies our dedication to the Black Country community through volunteering and fundraising initiatives. We believe in actively participating in improving the lives of those around us.

Our team is passionately involved in various charitable endeavours, working side by side with local organisations to address critical issues affecting our community. Whether contributing to foodbank drives, supporting shelters, or raising funds for vital services, we understand that these actions directly impact the people in our community.

"Higgs has been such an enthusiastic and supportive corporate partner and we have enjoyed every minute of being their Charity of the Year"

Sara Ward, CEO, Black Country Women’s Aid

"Higgs played an important role in helping us to secure our premises, so it was lovely to have them visit and lend extra pairs of hands, even with just the day to day running of the place. We look forward to welcoming them again in the near future.”

Neil Swann, Brockswood Animal Sanctuary

Empowering futures through education

Education is the cornerstone of progress, and we are steadfast in our commitment to fostering a brighter future for the Black Country. Our engagement with local schools, colleges, and universities reflects our belief in the potential within each young mind.

Through careers fairs, our vacation scheme and career guidance sessions, we aim to demystify the legal profession and showcase its myriad opportunities for people from all walks of life. We aim to inspire the next generation of legal and business minds by nurturing an understanding of the legal world.

Our team members, who come from diverse backgrounds, share their personal journeys and insights, offering students a glimpse into the world of law and wider business. We believe that by sharing our experiences – the challenges, the triumphs, and the moments that define our careers – we can light the way for those who wish to embark on a similar path.

A pledge to the future

Our commitment to the Black Country community is a lifelong pledge. We understand that the journey of growth and progress is one that we embark upon together. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to being more than just legal advisers – we strive to be catalysts for positive change, advocates for the underrepresented, and allies to those in need. Our doors are always open to collaboration, to new ideas, and to the shared goal of a stronger, more resilient Black Country community.

For us, community isn't just a page on our website; it's a testament to our values, passion, and unwavering commitment to the Black Country. We are here to serve not only as legal professionals but as active contributors to the community's well-being. We endeavour to enrich lives and empower futures through volunteering, fundraising, education, and career guidance. The Black Country isn't just a place where we work – it's where we belong and continue to make a difference every day.
