HR Forum

What's it about?

The field of Human Resource management is constantly changing. The myriad of influencing factors - legislation, research, socio-economic conditions (to name but a few) mean that keeping up with current thinking and best practice can be a fascinating yet challenging business.

The opportunity to discuss the latest developments and interpretations with other senior HR professionals is something we have found invaluable - and from our discussions we know that you do too.  The first of our quarterly HR forums will be taking place on Wednesday 26th Janunary 2011.

The forum includes a workshop or presentation on a particular topic a 'round the table' discussion & sharing of best practice, and the opportunity to network over drinks.  The first topic to be discussed at the HR Forum is 'Mediation' (please see below for further details).

Topics covered:

  • Latest Civil procedure and Employment law developments relating to the use of mediation
  • The cost consequences of refusing to mediate
  • How mediation works including an audience interactive role play of a real case study

Who is it for?

  • Senior HR Managers
  • HR Directors
  • Line Managers
  • Managing Partners
  • HR Consultants
  • Employment & Litigation Lawyers.

Why Attend?

  • Soaring numbers of Employment Tribunal claims are set to cost UK employers £2.6 billion over the next 3 years in administrative costs, in legal fees defending and awards.
  • The average legal costs of a case are £20,000.
  • The number of claims brought to Tribunals has increased by 56% to 236,100 claims in the year.
  • On average it costs each employer 9 days of management time dealing with grievances and an average of 13 days of management and HR time dealing with disciplinary cases each year.
  • Mediation is endorsed by the ACAS Code of Practice and the Employment Act 2008 as being the most effective way of avoiding these costs. Find out how mediation can be used to save you time and money and improve profitability.
  • Learn why mediation should be a first and not a last resort in resolving work place disputes and is in the best interests of business clients.
