Christmas crackdown on drink driving

The morning after the night before!

The police will be getting even tougher this Christmas and New Year on drink drivers.

West Midlands Police and West Mercia Police have now launched their Christmas and New Year Crackdown.  It is anticipated that more drivers than ever will be breathalysed.

If you think the following, think again:-

  • I had a drink but it was at lunchtime
  • I feel fine to drive
  • I've only had a couple
  • I'm only going down the road
  • I won't get stopped

Be warned, up to date statistics reveal 602,000 people were breathalysed and 106,000 were over the limit, resulting in 92,000 drivers being prosecuted!

Be aware of the effect of your office party.  You may still be over the limit the morning after and stopped by the police.

How would you cope if you lost your driving licence for drinking and driving?

The implications of a conviction for drink driving are massive for the driver, their family, their employer or any employees and potentially, the public. These potentially include the loss of employment, associated financial hardship and a criminal record.

Could you face a minimum disqualification of 12 months, a large fine or imprisonment?
