Sarah Potter

Principal Associate - Wealth Preservation

"I am an estate planning solicitor and a large part of my case load includes assisting entrepreneurial clients with all aspects of their will, trust, powers of attorney and estate planning requirements”

I joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2002 and qualified into the private client department.

I have nearly 20 years’ experience of all aspects of wealth and succession planning matters. I advise both individuals and families on their succession requirements including the preparation of wills, trusts, family charters and family investment companies and advising on inheritance tax planning.

I advise on both trust creation and the administration of ongoing trusts.

I work closely with our business services department to ensure that all aspects of any succession plan dovetail with new or existing corporate structures.

I also advise on post death planning work for families including preparation of deeds of variation.

I am a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

  • Advising on complex trust matters, including instances where there have been defective changes of trustees and assisting in correcting the position.
  • Pre-sale planning prior to disposals of trading shares for a number of family shareholders.
  • Assisting and working with accountants in repatriating offshore trusts back to the UK
  • Advising families on will trusts (post death planning) to structure arrangements in the best interests of the family and in a tax efficient manner to secure all available tax reliefs.
