I qualified as a Solicitor in 1995. I joined Higgs in 2010 from a major national firm.
I advise on a wide range of commercial disputes and have done so since qualification. My particular specialisms are professional negligence matters, IP disputes and disputes arising between shareholders of private limited companies or partners in either LLPs or traditional partnerships.
Due to the firm’s client base I also regularly advise on breach of restrictive covenant claims both for employers and employees
I am a qualified mental health first aider and am part of the Firm’s Wellness team.
Outside of work I am chair of a local hockey club and church warden at a local church.
I am also engaged in providing legal support to a local charitable association which provides services to the community such as warm space, food pantry and general befriending to the lonely and marginalised. This is something I am passionate about.
- I have acted for Claimants in numerous professional negligence matters often against other solicitors firms. Notably obtaining £200,000 for a client alleging negligence arising out of the purchase of development land. More recently advising a client on negligence arising out of extensive building works carried out to their property.
- Advising employer on claim against ex-employee for breach of contract, breach of restrictive covenant and breach of fiduciary duty resulting in advantageous settlement.
- Advising on alleged copyright infringement in respect of software coding, where the alleged losses were over 1 million pounds but settlement was achieved for £50,000.
- Advising ex director of a company accused of unlawful trading and breach of duty. Settling in mediation for £70,000 a claim valued at £800,000.
- Successfully advising and settling a long running shareholder dispute which allowed a director and shareholder to exit the business with a significant pay out in respect of their shares.
- Advising a local golf club in respect of a claim that failure by them to maintain the golf course had caused rainwater to flood neighbouring properties and cause significant uninsured loss. Successfully defeating the claim.
- Advising client on claim for alleged breach of trust and fraud valued at over £18 Million.
