I joined Higgs in 2014 as a Partner having trained at Eversheds and spent 10 years at Shoosmiths. I am the Head of the Property and I oversee the large and diverse department covering the full range of sectors and services including core commercial property, investment, real estate finance, development, construction and residential conveyancing.
I am experienced in all aspects of real estate development including commercial development, residential and mixed use schemes and student accommodation. I have particular expertise in option arrangements, promotion agreements, joint ventures and development and funding transactions.
I also have significant expertise in all areas of landlord and tenant work, portfolio management, acquisitions and disposals. Acting for individuals, private companies, banks and plcs with particular focus and experience in the investment sector and in leisure and retail.
- Advising developers in relation to mixed use schemes in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter from land acquisition through build out to plot sales
- Advising both landowners and developers in relation to promotion agreements and option agreements for strategic land
- Advising landowners on disposals to plc house builders with transaction values in excess of £50m
- Representing stakeholders in relation to collaboration agreements and consortium arrangements
- Acting for licensed landlords and occupiers, breweries, pub companies and leisure specialists on strategic portfolio acquisitions and disposals and roll out of a new build programme
- Leading a team of lawyers on all aspects of lease management for a plc pub company dealing with its 1000+ pub portfolio
- Leading an aggressive new build pub acquisition programme for a plc pub company interacting with national developers and local authorities
- Acting for household name retailers on acquisition and disposal programmes handling shopping centre, out of town and high street lettings
