"I am a family lawyer with special interests in wealth protection, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements. I primarily act in cases involving complex, high-value financial matters and have a wealth of experience in negotiating settlements.”

I love preparing nuptial agreements and the opportunity of creating agreements that really work for my clients and their families to protect pre-acquired, gifted and inherited assets. Often these involve the succession of family businesses and Family Investment Companies. I have advised on agreements with assets ranging between £0.5m and £35m.

Separate Together launched at the end of 2022, this service allows me to advise both parties in a divorce and to help them reach agreements on their financial arrangements. This modern option to dealing with divorce and separation allows more control and flexibility for clients, not to mention a cost saving.

Dealing with finances on divorce can be challenging and with almost 15 years’ experience in this area, I have been involved in many different types of cases and a range of assets and issues. I really enjoy working with clients to find cost effective solutions that work with their objectives and desired outcomes whether this be advising in the background whilst going through mediation or engaging in court proceedings.

With rights for cohabitants continuing to fall short of those for married couples, I work with clients looking to provide certainty and more favourable outcomes in the event that they separate from their partner.

Working alongside our private client team, i advise on the content and implications of family charters. these family based agreements can be an important foundation for protecting wealth through generations.

complementing my wealth protection practice, I also have gained a specialty in advising family and individuals upon the implications of trust assets on divorce and strategies for dealing with them prior to or following separation.

Working with our Court of Protection Team, I am instructed in cases where a Deputy or Litigation friend has been appointed. This includes cases where a party has lost capacity as a result of a medical condition, accident, personal injury or clinical negligence. Working with the wider support network, I look to preserve resources and to minimise the impact of divorce on parties as far as possible.

  • There isn’t one stand out highlight for me but the thing I like most about my role is seeing individuals in a place of uncertainty, being unsure or worried about their futures and supporting them to a place where we have put in protections to mitigate their concerns or that together we have achieved an outcome that matched their desires and objectives. The satisfaction of having made a difference is always the highlight.

A satisfied client

"My divorce was initially handled by Rhian Gray, who then also introduced Ellie Norton into the case. Both individuals were very friendly and I instantly felt at ease with them. Their personable and professional nature was very much appreciated in what was a stressful time for me. They gave me clear guidance throughout the whole process"
