Higgs staff resolve to raise funds at run

Black Country law firm Higgs & Sons is holding its first major fundraising activity of 2016 this weekend, in aid of the firm's Charity of the Year.

On Sunday, a team of 18 intrepid runners will tackle the second annual Resolution Run being held at Hagley Hall, raising much needed funds for The Stroke Association.

Tim Jones, head of the firm's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, is thrilled that so many Higgs' staff have signed up to the event.

"The Resolution Run is set to be our first major fundraiser for The Stroke Association - our nominated Charity of the Year - and I am pleased that so many Higgs & Sons' employees are taking on the challenge.

"We have an excellent team who do more and more each year, and I'm delighted to say that we are already almost half way to reaching our first fundraising target of £1,500."

The 18 employees who signed up have thrown themselves into training for either the 5k course or the hard core 10k challenge, gallantly tweeting their efforts with the hashtag HiggsRun.

"Sponsorship money raised!! Thanks to my lovely friends and family, better get my running shoes on!" tweeted Clare Griffiths, while Mark Hand tweeted: "@TheStrokeAssoc t-shirt arrived. Christened it with a run."

Those taking part are: Lindsey Bate, Jenna Beckett, Emma Hadley, Clare Griffiths, Siobhan Turner, Rebecca Green, Matt Dudley, Mark Hand, Sarah Cornick, Sarah Murphy, Nyree Applegarth, Kate Owen, Claire Hanke, Steve Chaplin, Joe Cowles, Jamie De Souza, Julia Lowe and Annabel Kay.

The Resolution Run starts at 11am with a warm up at 10.45. The route is cross country and challenging through the beautiful natural scenery of Hagley Hall.

The Stroke Association campaigns to improve stroke care and support people to make the best possible recovery. It funds research into new treatments and ways to prevent stroke.
