Higgs helps charity mark landmark anniversary

Higgs & Sons' Clinical Negligence team will be helping a renowned national organisation celebrate its anniversary next month, by co-sponsoring the event marking 35 years since its founding.

Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) is the UK charity for patient safety & justice, which provides free independent advice and support to people affected by medical accidents. The 35th anniversary event will help raise much need funds to enable the AvMA to continue providing free independent advice and support to people affected by medical accidents (lapses in patient safety).

As well as a specialist helpline, AvMA offers written casework and inquest support services, working in partnership with health professionals, the NHS, government departments, lawyers and, most of all, patients to improve patient safety and justice.

Higgs & Sons has forged a close association with AvMA, with specialists from the firm's Clinical Negligence team being called upon to provide advice to those affected by medial accidents.

Clare Langford a Partner at Higgs explains: "We have a close relationship with AvMA having been members for over 15 years. Several members of the team have worked on a pro bono basis for AvMA manning the helpline, providing advice to those affected by medical accidents.

"We are thrilled to be supporting this event which will help to raise funds so that AvMA can continue its valuable work."

The AvMA Midlands 35th anniversary celebration is taking place at Zen Metro in Birmingham where guests will celebrate the work of the organisation which, since its founding in 1982, has provided advice and support to more than 100,000 people.
