Netball tournament hits the right score for charity

Inspired by the gold winning performance of the England Roses at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year, Higgs & Sons' mixed netball tournament which took place on 18th July was a fantastic success.

The tournament which featured 16 teams raised £1,234 which will go to the range of charities being supported by the Higgs Charitable Foundation in 2018, including Higgs charity of the Year, Dudley Mind.

"I just wanted to say a big  thank you to everyone who got involved with our first mixed netball tournament," comments Clare Griffiths Events Manager at Higgs who helped to coordinate the event.

"We have already had feedback thanking us for putting on the tournament and saying how much people enjoyed it. I thought there was a real buzz about it and everyone who attended seemed to be in great spirits."

The tournament was open to all abilities from novices to seasoned pro's and offered the opportunity for the teams made up of local businesses to get active, enjoy some friendly competition, and to network.

The winners of the tournament were Mazars who took the title after a keenly contested final with JW Hinks. The Higgs team reached the semi-finals.

"A huge thank you to all the players, helpers and spectators, not just for taking part in the event but for helping out during the evening." concludes Clare.

"I’m extremely grateful for the ongoing support we receive as events such as this would not be possible without everyone pulling together to make them such a success."
