Fundraising is key feature of trainee life

As Higgs & Sons celebrated another record-breaking year of charity fundraising, the firm’s trainees were thrilled to have contributed £3,000 through a series of events and activities.

The baker’s dozen of graduates, currently in either their first or second year of training at Higgs, held a number of fun fundraisers including:

  • Afternoon Tea for Dudley Mind’s Time to Talk event – encouraging people to think about and discuss mental health
  • World Cup sweepstake
  • Seasonal guessing games (e.g. guess the number of Easter eggs)
  • Mixed netball tournament – this was the first event and was very successful
  • Trainee Bake-off
  • December Festive Fun - Christmas Fayre, Wine Calendar and a Christmas jumper day together raised around £600 in December alone

Shana Quinn, a second year trainee, said: “From the day we arrive at Higgs, trainees are invited to get fully involved with all of the activities going on.

“As well as being encouraged to join societies and attend seminars, a key feature of trainee life at Higgs is fundraising for the firm's chosen charity each year, something we are actively encouraged to do.”

Higgs & Sons' fundrasing for 2018 topped £22,600, nudging ahead of the previous year’s record-breaking total. Half of the funds were donated to Higgs’ Charity of the Year, Dudley Mind, with the remainder equally split between 10 good causes supported by the Higgs Charitable Foundation.
