Are you ready for the changes?

There are a number of changes coming into effect in April. Ensure you are familiar with the changes below and how they may impact your business.

1 April 2019 

  • Limit on a weeks’ pay used to calculate statutory payments such as statutory redundancy pay will increase to £525.
  • Increase to national minimum wages as follows:

Wage

New Rate:

National Living Wage (Workers aged 25 and over)

£8.21

Standard Adult Rate (Workers aged 21-24)

£7.70

Development Rate (Workers aged 18-20)

£6.15

Young Workers Rate (Workers aged 16 and 17 who are not apprentices)

£4.35

Apprentice rate (Apprentices under 19 or aged 19 and in first year of the apprenticeship)

£3.90

 

6 April 2019

  • Statutory sick pay to increase to £94.25 per week.
  • All workers (not just employees) will have a right to receive an itemised pay statement. This should include the total number of hours worked in respect of the variable amount of pay either as a single aggregate figure or separate figures for different types of work or different rates of pay.
  • Maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal will increase to £86,444.
  • Minimum contributions to auto-enrolment workplace pensions will increase to 8% with the employer’s minimum contribution set at 3%.

7 April 2019

  • Statutory maternity, paternity and adoption pay will increase to £146.68 per week.

8 April 2019

  • Maternity allowance will increase to £146.48 per week.
