Ian Shovlin receives Lifetime Achievement award

Higgs & Sons’ former Senior Partner Ian Shovlin has been honoured at the annual Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards.

With more than 30 years of experience in the Personal Injury sector, Ian received a lifetime achievement award at the 2019 awards held at the ICC and hosted by BBC journalist John Humphrys.

He was described as a “fabulous example of what can be achieved with hard work, ambition, skill and downright decency”.

Until 2018, Ian specialised in catastrophic injury and fatal accident claims and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and an honorary member of Headway Black Country, a charity for people with acquired brain injuries.

He was Deputy HM Coroner for Hereford & Worcester North from 1990 to 1994, chairman of the Motor Accident Solicitors Society 2002 to 2004 and President of the Birmingham Medico Legal Society from 2011 to 2013. He is currently vice chairman of the Birmingham Law Society’s board.

Ian said: “Thank you so much to Birmingham Law Society for this award, which came as a complete surprise. It is an immense honour to be recognised by my peers.”

Andy Shaw, Partner and head of Personal Injury at Higgs & Sons said: “We are incredibly proud of Ian on receiving the Lifetime Achievement award. He has been an exemplary ambassador for the firm and thoroughly deserves this recognition.”
