Covid-19: Buying or selling a home

If you are in the process of buying or selling a home you may have concerns that the process might be disrupted.

If you have exchanged contracts to buy or sell a home and either party is unable to complete on the contractual completion date for any reason relating to the current restrictions (for example, parties being in self-isolation) they will invariably find themselves in breach of contract and should seek advice.

If you have not yet exchanged contracts, it would be wise to include a clause in the contract that allows for a delay should the situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) make it impossible for you to complete.  However, this may not help if, for example, your mortgage offer expires whilst you are self-isolating.

If you would like to discuss any of these issues in more detail, you can contact
